Arts Council Hosts Yak & Sak

Yak & Sak is an informal discussion group for small arts organizations, big ones and artists concerned with the Arts Council of Manatee County.

Sarasota Orchestra Honors Teachers

The Sarasota Orchestra will present its first ever Music Teacher of the Year Awards, honoring Kathy Cook (a teacher at Braden River High) and Owen Bradley (a teacher at North Port High School) at a special concert, Mentors of Music on October 4.

VSA Arts of Florida is Seeking Teaching Artists

VSA coordinates artist residency programs for adults in ARC facilities, students in ESE classrooms, and teens at risk in Department of Juvenile Justice Centers. These residencies provide hands-on experiences for the recipients in addition to enhancing skills and providing a means of expression for the participants.

The residencies range from 8 to 10 one hour sessions per site and the fee paid to the artist is $50.00 per hour.

We are seeking teaching artists in all art forms statewide, and particularly in Citrus, Duval, Hardee, Lee, Marion, Okeechobee and St. John's Counties.

Kathy Wright - Beachside Demonstration

Kathy will be demonstrating her Plein Air Painting Technique on Thursday, October 16th, from 10:00 to 2:00. Demo Fee is $15

Kathy will also conduct a Plein Air Workshop October 22nd through October 24th, from 10:00 to 2:00. Workshop Fee is $130

Mark Twain's Musical-Comedy Opens

Florida Studio Theatre opens the Winter Mainstage Season with A Murder, A Mystery & A Marriage.

SoulSpeak Poetry/Video Poem Classes

SOULSPEAK/SOULMOVES is offering training classes for teachers, counselors, and any other persons wishing to learn the simple SOULSPEAK techniques for creating spontaneous written or spoken poetry.

All classes are individually scheduled and run 1 - 2 hours. The cost of the first class is $45.00 and includes training manual and CD. Subsequent classes are $25.00.

Anna Maria Island Art League Class Schedule

The Anna Maria Island Art League has released their 2008-2009 class schedule. Beginning in October, the Art League will hold Adult Classes, Adult Workshops, Kids Classes and Child & Parent Workshops.

Preregistration is required to reserve a space. Class sizes are small and space is limited. Supplies are not included in the class fee. Supply lists are available at the League when registering.
